My Wellness Tracker

Many people in Hong Kong misunderstand the basis of weight management. A survey conducted in early 2011 found that less than one-third of the respondents agreed diet control and exercise were equally important for effective weight management. A study conducted by the Centre for Nutritional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, found that 88% of people in Hong Kong did not know their daily energy requirement. People think that diet control is the best way to lose weight but ignore the importance of energy balance for maintaining their metabolic rate.

To raise the awareness of Hong Kong people on nutrition and energy balance, and the factors affecting their weight, the Centre for Nutritional Studies (CUHK) developed this lifestyle tracking program, “My Wellness Tracker” and provides knowledge on nutrition and exercise. We aim to help people to make better food choices, to manage their weight and to establish and maintain a healthy active lifestyle. This project is supported by the Coca-Cola Foundation.
